Did you know that nearly 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences a mental health condition each year? Yet, less than half of those affected receive the support they need. The mission of Better Mental Health PLLC is to bridge this gap by offering compassionate, evidence-based therapy to underserved communities throughout North Carolina. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or simply seeking personal growth, individualized therapy can help you achieve your goals. Consider what research has found on the effectiveness of therapy for treating mental health problems:
- The American Psychological Association (APA) reports that 75% of people who receive psychotherapy experience some benefit.
- Research published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology indicates that the average success rate for psychotherapy is around 75-80%.
- A study published in the Archives of General Psychiatry found that the benefits of psychotherapy can last for years, with many patients maintaining their progress and improvements long after therapy has ended.
“I believe that therapy is a great thing. It can really help you to feel more empowered, more in control of your life, and more connected with others.” — Scarlett Johansson
Therapeutic Approach
Through my private practice I treat adults 18 and older who are navigating various mental health challenges. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health conditions, I am here to help. My services are available to residents within the state of North Carolina, and I am currently offering telehealth services exclusively to ensure you can receive the care you need from the comfort of your home.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based techniques that have been shown to be effective through scientific research. I tailor my methods to meet the unique needs of each client, drawing from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This technique helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety disorders, depression, substance use problems, and other mental health challenges.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): This treatment approach helps clients with more serious problems with emotion dysregulation, intense anger, self-destructive behaviors, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and chaotic relationships.
- Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP): Particularly effective for treating panic disorder, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), ERP involves gradual exposure to fears to regain control.
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT): This therapy is effective for treating trauma and PTSD by helping clients reframe and process traumatic experiences.
- Solution-Focused Therapy: A goal-directed approach that emphasizes identifying personal strengths, finding solutions to problems, and exploring your hopes for the future.
- Psychodynamic Therapy: This technique explores how unconscious thoughts and past experiences influence current behavior and emotions.
Insurance and Payment
I am an in-network provider with Aetna and Cigna insurance plans. For clients with other insurance coverage, I can assist with the reimbursement process for out-of-network services. Your insurance provider will determine the cost for therapy sessions including any applicable co-pay and annual deductible amounts due, which I will confirm with you prior to the start of therapy. My goal is to make therapy as accessible and affordable as possible, ensuring that financial barriers do not stand in the way of your mental health recovery.
